Research Experience:
I have mainly engaged in the fundamental theory and simulation technology on hydrodynamics and sediment transport in estuarine and coastal zone. Since 1989, I am responsible for two projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, four projects supported by Ministry of Water Resources or Ministry of Transport, P.R. China, more than twenty projects of training engineering of navigation channel, harbor constructions, river flood control engineering, water intake and outfall of power plant and nuclear power plant.
  • 2011-present:Be in charge of a project supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China to study the siltation mechanism downstream tidal sluice and to simulate the siltation pattern from the sluice to the estuary. 
  • 2011-present: Be in charge of a project supported by Ministry of Transport to study the simulation and measuring technology of sediment transport in the training engineering of Golden Waterway Capacity Building. 
  • 2009-2012: Be in charge of a project supported by ministry of water resources to deal with the sediment siltation downstream the sluices at the estuaries in China. The sluices at different area, north river estuary, east river estuary and south river estuary have been studied and the measurements to decrease the siltation have been put forward. The research results have been acceptance by the Ministry of Water Resources.
  • 2009-2012: Be in charge of the feasibility study on a barrage sluice at the tidal reach of Mulanxi Creek, Fujian Province, China. The sediment deposition downstream the sluice have been studied by physical model and numerical models. The energy dissipation of the sluice has been experimented. The results have been proposed to Water Conservancy Hydropower Design Institute.
  • 2008-2010: Be in charge of a project supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China to study the distorted ratio of physical model by five physical models with different horizontal scales and vertical scales.
  • 2007-2009: Be in charge of a project supported by Ministry of Transport to draw up reference norm on numerical model test of port and waterway engineering. The reference norm enclose numerical model of currents, waves, sediment transport and shiping.   
  • 2006-2008: Be in charge of a project of water intake and cooling water outlet of Ningde Nuclear Power Plant. Both numerical model and physical model were established to simulate the cooling water diffusion, liquid waste diffusion and sediment siltation.   
  • 2005-2007: Be in charge of the sediment siltation problem in the feasibility study of the new port of Panjin at the Liaohe Estuary. Two berths with 20,000T have been completed.
  • 2003-2005: Be in charge of the sediment problems in the feasibility studies both in Lianyungang Port Expansion Engineering and in the South Breakwater Engineering. Two projects have been completed.
  • 2004-2006: Be responsible for the numerical model of the salt water and sediment in the Yangtze Delta, which is a part work of the Yangtze Estuary planning studies. The work has optimized the planning and the results have been adopted by the Yangtze River Water Resources Commission.
  • 2003-2005: Be responsible for the project of saltwater intrusion and water sources construction in the Yangtze Estuary. 2D numerical models for tidal and salt in Yangtze Estuary are established. The results have been adopted by Shanghai Water Authority.
  • 2002-2004: Be in charge of reclamation problem at Minjiang Estuary. This is a key project of Fujian Province. The project has been finished and the results have been adopted by Fujian Provincial Department of Ocean and Fisheries.
  • 2000-2005: Be in charge of the "Mulanxi Creek downstream flood control projects, Putian City, Fujian Province. The effect of training works, the form of riverbed protection and the crest elevation of the creek dike were studied by the numerical model and physical model of tidal current, wave and sediment transport. The research results have been adopted by Water Conservancy Hydropower Design Institute, Fujian Province. The engineering are divided into four phases to construction. Now, three phases have been completed.
  • 1998-1999: Be responsible for sediment problems in the possibility study of national key projects Yangtze Estuary 15m deep waterway and port site. The result was appraised by experts organized by the Ministry of Transport and adopted by Water Transportation Consultants Co., Ltd..
  • 1997-1999: Be in charge of the study of sediment motion and numerical simulation under 3D flow and sediment conditions. The local scour at groins was simulated and the results were verified by the physical model validation. This work was supported by youth fund of ministry of transport.
  • 1994-2005:Be in charge the navigation siltation study of the Yangtze Estuary Deepwater Channel Regulation Project. This is a national key project. The siltation in the channel under normal condition and flood with storm surge condition are simulated. This research was done from the feasibility study period of the project in 1994 to Phase II project completed in 2005. The prediction results have been used as decision-making, design and project implementation.
  • 1993-2007: Be responsible for the sediment siltation simulation on coal terminal, water intake engineering of Chenjiagang Power Plant, and the navigation channel inside and outside the Guanghe Esruary, Jiangsu Province. The research work was appraised by experts organized by the Planning Commission of Jiangsu Province. The results were adopted by the Jiangsu Province Electric Power Design Institute.
  • 1990-1994: Be responsible for the sediment siltation simulation on coal terminal and water intake engineering of Zhuanghe Power Plant, 10,000 ton dock and waterway which are key projects in Liaoning Province, P.R. China. The research results adopted by Water Transportation Consultants Co., Ltd. The Zhuanghe Port and Zhuanghe power plant have been constructed.
  • 1989-1991: Be responsible for the sediment siltation simulation of the second basin at the second phase of Jinzhou Port, the results was adopted by Water Transportation Consultants Co., Ltd.
